ORDERING GUIDE

How to Configure the Seametrics PS9800

Configure the PS9800 by selecting the pressure reference, measurement range, output, construction, cable material, and required cable length.

1

Select Gauge or Absolute Pressure

Gauge Pressure

Recommended for most continuous water-level applications. The vented cable compensates for changes in atmospheric pressure.

Absolute Pressure

Uses a sealed reference and does not require a vented cable. Barometric compensation may be required for accurate water-level calculations.

2

Select the Measurement Range

Choose a pressure range that exceeds the maximum expected water depth or operating pressure. Avoid selecting a range that is significantly higher than necessary, since a properly matched range provides better usable measurement resolution.

5 PSIG 12 ft H2O
15 PSIG 35 ft H2O
30 PSIG 69 ft H2O
50 PSIG 115 ft H2O
100 PSIG 231 ft H2O
300 PSIG 692 ft H2O

The ranges shown above are standard gauge-pressure configurations. Absolute-pressure configurations are also available.

3

Select the Measurement Output

Pressure Only

Provides a two-wire 4–20 mA output for continuous liquid-level or pressure measurement.

Pressure + Temperature

Adds an optional temperature measurement channel for applications that require both level and water-temperature data.

4

Select the Sensor Construction

Standard Construction

Acetal and 316 stainless steel construction for groundwater, surface water, tanks, and general water-level monitoring.

Optional Titanium

Select titanium when enhanced corrosion resistance is required for saltwater, brackish water, or chemically aggressive liquids.

5

Select the Cable Material

Polyurethane

A flexible, abrasion-resistant choice for most groundwater, surface-water, and general monitoring installations.

Polyethylene

Suitable when additional moisture resistance or compatibility with certain liquids is required.

ETFE

Provides enhanced chemical and temperature resistance for more demanding installations.

6

Specify the Cable Length

Select a cable length that reaches from the installed sensor to the termination point, data logger, control panel, or telemetry enclosure. Include additional length for routing, service loops, and future maintenance.

Avoid submerged cable splices. Whenever possible, use one continuous cable from the sensor to a dry and accessible termination point.
