The 260-2520 Forestry Rain Gauge includes a removable funnel, calibrated measuring tube, overflow can, and black G-10 fiberglass epoxy laminate measuring stick. The measuring stick is graduated in 0.01-inch and 0.2 mm increments. A support bracket may be purchased separately.
The measuring tube has a capacity of exactly 0.5 inches of precipitation. Rainfall exceeding this amount flows into the outer overflow can. After the water in the measuring tube has been recorded and emptied, the overflow can be measured separately. The gauge has a total capacity of 7 inches.
For measuring snow, remove the funnel and measuring tube so snowfall collects directly in the overflow can. The collected snow can then be melted and measured using the calibrated tube and measuring stick.
